YSU holds first test of emergency alert system

Youngstown State University will conduct the first test of its new emergency notification system Tuesday.

Over 4,000 students and staff members are signed up to receive the alerts, which sends out simultaneous text messages and e-mails to warn the campus in the event of an emergency.

The system has been in place for about a month.
