The ministers who forgave a Warren police officer last week after he admitted using racial slurs say they still don't want him promoted to captain.
Lieutenant Joseph Marhulik admitted, while off-duty back in August, that he drove up to two black men on bikes, made a racial slur, and asked if they were selling crack.
"It's on him to regain the trust of the community," says Pastor Samson Murry Jr. "And basically it will not be an overnight thing. I'm quite sure it will take time."
Marhulik agreed to have his promotion put on hold until Warren's Safety Service Director feels the community has healed from the racially charged incident.
