Roof collapses on two Youngstown firefighters

Two firefighters were lucky to avoid serious injury after a roof collapses on them.

It happened at a vacant home on South Hazelwood just after three Tuesday afternoon. It's the third west side blaze in three days.

"They can't light themselves," says Chief John O'Neil. "We need to go in there and see what we can do. If any of the neighbors saw anyone we need the tips and people from the community to keep their eyes open especially in the daytime it's a little easier to catch somebody."

Captain Alvin Ware said the fire is an arson, but he is unsure of what was used to start it.

The chief says although the two firefighters appear to be OK, but they were still sent to Saint E's to be checked out.
