Head of deputies union discusses Mahoning recall effort

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio- Mahoning county sheriff's deputies have started a campaign to remove county commissioners from office in light of plans to lay more than 100 of them off and close half the county jail.

Glenn Kountz, president of the deputies bargaining unit, appeared on WGFT's Louie B. Free show on Monday to discuss the effort to remove Anthony Traficanti, John McNally and David Ludt from office.

"I'm confident we'll get enough signatures. Then it goes on the ballot," Kountz said.

Under Ohio law, 16,000 signatures are necessary to put a written complaint for removal on the ballot.

If that were to pass, the actual process of removal would go through the courts.
