WILLARD, Ohio (AP) - A CSX spokesman says officials believe a derailment at a northern Ohio rail yard damaged a railcar that leaked flammable liquid, causing the evacuation of hundreds of nearby homes. Local responders and crews from CSX are trying to determine how much of the liquid spilled in Willard, about 65 miles southwest of Cleveland.
HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) - A southwest Ohio couple accused of abandoning the adopted 9-year-old son they raised from infancy by giving him to child welfare officials have pleaded not guilty. Cleveland and Lisa Cox enter their pleas today in a Butler County court. Authorities allege the couple from suburban Liberty Township near Middletown left the boy with children's services after saying he was displaying aggressive behavior and had threatened the family with a knife.
FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - An autistic New Jersey teenager who had been missing for a week has been reunited with his parents after he was found safe in Ohio. The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says 19-year-old Michael Karwan of Marlboro was located last night in Cleveland. A staffer at a homeless shelter there notified authorities after seeing a Facebook newsfeed item about Karwan.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say no major problems were reported at a frigid lake on the Ohio State University campus as students jumped in for the official version of a tradition ahead of the Buckeyes' rivalry football game with Michigan. The Columbus Dispatch reports some students had stormed a surrounding fence Monday night and plunged in a day ahead of the traditional jump in defiance of the school's efforts to regulate it.
