Salvation Army taking applications for Christmas assistance

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Salvation Army, Mahoning County Area Services, will be taking applications for Christmas assistance Tuesday, October 11th through Thursday, October 13th.

They will take applications from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

Anyone applying needs to bring a photo ID, proof of all children in the household and birth certificates, and proof of other adults and children in the household by photo ID or social security cards.

The Salvation Army will also need proof of income including pay stubs from the last 30 days, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services printout from the last 30 days, child-support papers, worker's compensation statements, proof of bills including lease and mortgage papers, utility bills, car payments, insurance, child care and any other bills being paid.

Participants can only sign up with one agency or church for Christmas assistance.
