HUBBARD, Ohio - A local company has found a way to detect tuberculosis much faster than standard testing.
Initial study results show rapid detection technology created by NanoLogix can detect TB in just four days. Compared to conventional testing, which typically takes 21 days, it's 500 percent faster. The company expects the TB test to gain world-wide attention.
"The potential for this is that if you can monitor, essentially in real time, antibiotic treatment for TB," said NanoLogix CEO, Bret Barnhizer. "Ultimately TB can go the way of small pox to where no one worries about small pox anymore."
More than 1 million people die from TB every year.
