POLAND, Ohio - Poland officials are taking a closer look at a Texas based company's proposal to lease the mineral rights for a cemetery.
The offer applies to 35 acres of a cemetery near Lowelville.
A representative of the company, Campbell Development, said the contract specifies there would be no surface drilling at the cemetery.
Poland Township Administrator Tim Scharville says it's not clear whether the mineral rights for burial plots that were purchased would belong to the township or plot owners.
