OHSAA looking at adding 7th division in football

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio High School Athletic Association is discussing adding a seventh division for football.

A committee is looking into dividing the current Division I schools in half – putting 60 teams in each, or taking the top 64 based on enrollment and adjusting other divisions.

Playoff teams will remain at 32 in either plan; the earliest the plan would start is 2013.

In addition, the OHSAA would make the state finals a three day event, either starting on Thursday or ending on Sunday.
