YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A fire on Youngstown's east side sent an elderly man to the hospital.
It happened around 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at a home on Berwick Avenue.
The fire was confined to a bedroom of the home.
Two elderly people were able to escape from the home, but a third elderly person was trapped in the flames in the bedroom.
"the guys did a great job of going in and searching and grabbing the victim and getting to him right away. The medics got to him right away and took him to the hospital for treatment," said Youngstown Fire Department Battalion Chief Gary DiTullo.
The victim's name has not been released. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and was eventually transported to the Akron Burn Unit.
