Trumbull County looking to hire someone to oversee shale related road issues

Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - The Trumbull County Engineer is considering hiring someone to oversee all shale related road use issues.

Randy Smith says several of the communities throughout the county have approached him asking if his office could monitor the oil and gas companies to make sure they're taking care of the roads they use.

Smith says if the communities are willing to pitch in, his office, will pay half the cost of hiring someone.

"Based on current staffing levels, we know that would be a challenge to do to the amount that we believe it needs to be done, so we're going to ask the communities to contribute an amount of money in order to be put towards a well coordinator," Smith said.

The total cost of hiring someone, including salary, a vehicle, gas, benefits, and supplies, will be around 80- thousand dollars.
