The Youngstown State women's tennis team won three singles matches, but dropped their final match of the season losing to Butler 4-3 on a chilly Saturday afternoon at the YSU Tennis Courts.
Marta Burak (No. 1), Lauren Hankle (No. 2) and Carolyn Jesko (No. 3) all picked up singles wins for the Penguins.
Burak defeated Caroline Hedrick 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. With the victory, Burak finished her freshman season with an impressive 19-9 overall record. In Horizon League play, she was 7-1 and at No. 1 in dual matches this year was 13-5.
Hankle polished off a solid junior campaign with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Stephanie McLoughlin. Hankle finished the year 15-9 and 6-2 in Horizon League play. She was 11-7 at No. 2 singles in dual action this year.
Jesko had not won a singles match since winning her first match of the season in October. She was able to end the season on a high note with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Gabrielle Rubenstien.
At No. 4, Gimena Puppo dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to Cam Thompson.
The Penguins finish the season 1-17 overall and 1-7 in the Horizon League. Butler improves to 8-14 and 5-3.
