Butler makes it official, they are leaving the Horizon League

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The Butler men's basketball program was one of the most dominant in the Horizon League; advancing to two national championship games.

Now they're leaving the conference for the Atlantic 10,

There's been speculation for months that the Bulldogs we're exiting and on Wednesday they officially informed Horizon League Commissioner Jon Lecrone about their intentions.

They'll join the Atlantic 10 beginning with the 2013-2014 season.

Now the speculation has begun on which school or schools would fit the Horizon League.

Here's a list of institutions that could be considered: IUPUI which is based outside of Indianapolis and was a former member of the Mid Continent Conference, Oakland University which is based outside Detroit, Fort Wayne University or IPF or Robert Morris.

Commissioner LeCrone says the league will do its due diligence in finding one, or perhaps more, institution to join the conference.

Youngstown State officials directed all questions to the commissioner.
