YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - People gathered in downtown Youngstown on Saturday to walk, stroll and roll for foster care.

The group hoped to highlight the growing need for foster families in the area as part of National Foster Care Month.

Here in Mahoning County there are roughly 80 foster families. Although, there are more than 140 children in the foster care system.

Foster parent Venita Collins says the biggest need is for families that are willing to take in teenagers. "They need the structure and support. They need to know that there is an adult there that is keeping an eye on things and even though they won't admit it, they like the rules. All kids need rules and boundaries and so often kids coming into foster care have never had that."

Across the country, there are more than 500-thousand children in foster care.
