YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Setter Erin Muir (Iowa City, Iowa) has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her volleyball and academic career at Youngstown State University starting in the upcoming 2012 season, YSU head coach Mark Hardaway announced.

Muir was named Class 4A First-Team All-State at setter as a senior, leading Iowa City High to a 40-4 record and a trip to the state championship match. She averaged a state-best 10.48 assists per set, and Iowa City led the state in kills per set while ranking fourth in hitting efficiency. Muir played for the Iowa Rockets top 18's club team.

"Erin is a highly respected student-athlete, and I am very excited to have a setter with her credentials join our program," Hardaway said. "With her background and experience, she is ready to set at the Division I level right away. Erin will give us depth at the setter position, and I expect her to challenge and push Casey (D'Ambrose) from day one."

"Erin has solid skills and knows how to win,"Hardaway added. "She is the type of player that makes the players around her better. Erin is the total package and is strong in the classroom. Erin will be an asset to the program, and I am confident that she will fit in with our team right away."

Muir averaged 9.9 assists and 3.4 digs while earning Class 4A special-mention all-state accolades as a junior.

Muir joins Alyson Ryan, Lauren Thompson and Nikki Thompson incoming freshmen on YSU's 2012 team.
