LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - One man is dead and another is in stable condition after the driver of an asphalt sealant truck lost control as he was heading west on Tibbetts Wick Road in Liberty Township.

The driver, 33-year-old David Johngrass from Lowellville, died at the scene. The passenger 21-year-old Samuel Inskeep also from Lowellville is in stable condition.

A Good Samaritan, who tried to help, was two cars back when he heard what sounded like a tire blowout. Michael Greco says he then saw the tanker truck swerve and hit a mail box then eventually flip and hit a tree.

Police say the driver drove back onto the roadway into oncoming traffic but swerved back to the right to avoid the oncoming traffic.

Greco stopped along with another driver and used a rope to tie the door open to the passenger side. They were unable to get the passenger out who appeared shaken but ok. They tried to help the driver who died at the scene.

Trumbull HazMat spent about five hours at the site cleaning up asphalt sealant that leaked onto some resident's yards. The Trumbull branch of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.
