New information on quadruple murder in Newton Falls

Updated:

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio – We have new information about that horrific quadruple murder in Newton Falls on Friday.

There wasn't just one young child who witnessed the shootings, but two a five-year-old and a nine-year-old.

A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church in Newton Falls to remember the lives of 39-year-old Kathy Cogley and her 15-year-old son Everertt Greathouse. They were two of four people shot and killed Friday.

Authorities suspect Robb Brazzon was the lone gunman. He shot himself once confronted by police.

Cogley's youngest sister says the family is just thankful for the overwhelming support from the community as they try to find comfort where there are no answers for now.

"We have no idea at this point. We have no idea. But we're very confident that the sheriff's department in both Newton Falls and Trumbull County will be able to resolve the matter, and it might be one of those things where we just never know," said Althea Buck, sister of murder victim.

Kathy Cogley's husband, 42-year-old Rikki Cogley was also shot to death inside their home, and we've learned from the family that not one but two young boys, only five and nine-years-old, witnessed the murders of their parents and brother inside their Trumbull Court home.

"There were two little boys in the house at the time, but the boys are doing very well. And they're with family and friends. We've had professional help that's being called in and grief counselors who work with the children who specialize in that," Buck said.

A makeshift memorial remains at a neighborhood park just yards away from the home where three members of one family were murdered on Friday.

Now the mayor and members of the community want to come together and dedicate the park to one of the victims, 15- year-old Everett Greatouse. They said he spent most of his time there.

"The kids usually gather at the park everyday as soon as they all get up and ever since this happened no one's been over to the park to play," said Julie Kelly a family friend and neighbor.

Neighbors are in mourning, holding their loved ones just a little bit tighter after a tragedy that's changed this tight knit community forever.
