YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Fire officials say the damage to the Huntington bank building brand in downtown Youngstown is estimated at $100,000.
Officials at Huntington Banks say the Huntington Bank Building downtown is still operational but the branch itself is closed after a fire.
Tenants of the bank will still be in business today, while cleanup crews asses the damage done at the branch floor.
Youngstown firefighters were busy Wednesday night battling the fire. 30 firefighters had been going through the Huntington Bank building floor by floor to make sure it was safe.
Four people were inside at the time the blaze broke out which was shortly after 8:00 p.m. Three people made it out on their own, but firefighters had to travel to the 11th floor to rescue a cleaning lady, identified as 60-year-old Brunita Turner. She was transported to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Youngstown Fire Chief John O'Neil said, "She had called in and told us she was there. She put herself in a room and did the right thing."
Authorities say the flames were confined to the first floor, but smoke was everywhere.
"A lot of the smoke went up a big pipe chase and it pretty much contaminated all the floors with heavy smoke."
Attorney John Dellick, who was working late at Harrington, Hoppe and Mitchell, could see the smoke where he was on the 12th floor.
"It started in this first area. It could have been anything. It caught some desk materials, wood, wood paneling, so it got going pretty good," O'Neil said.
O'Neil said that damage to the branch floor is estimated at $100,000.
