Updated:

LACKAWANNA TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania - A family of four is homeless after a fire rips through their Mercer County home.

Shortly after 6L00 p.m. Tuesday evening, people who live in the Forest Brooke Trailer Park in Lackawanna Township spotted fire coming from a trailer.

The neighbors tried to extinguish the flames with a garden hose and fire extinguisher, but could not and called the fire department.

The Hermitage Fire Chief tells 21 News the family left about 10 minutes before the fire broke out in what is believed to be a bedroom.

The trailer is a total loss.

The American Red Cross is helping the family and the trailer park is setting up a place for them to stay.
