Search continues for missing Mercer man

Updated:

MERCER COUNTY, Pennsylvania - It's been a long, trying week for Mike Mariacher. His father, 80-year-old Donald Mariacher, was last seen last Friday morning walking just south of his Mercer home on Perry Highway, less than a mile north of Interstate 80.

Mike Mariacher says, "The immediate neighbor saw him at 11:00 a.m. Another person saw him a little after that a bit further up the road there's an access road that leads to one of them gas wells."

Tracking dogs and search crews combed about a two square mile radius around his home but found nothing.

Mike said his father can't walk very well but is in otherwise good mental shape. That's why he can't figure why he left his home or where he might have gone. He says Donald didn't like to go outside and was basically shy around people he didn't know, so he doesn't think his father got into anyone's car.

But something like this did happen before in April. His son said, "He got about a quarter mile up the road just past the billboards went into a field and got tangled up in some brush."

He was there for about five hours before he was found by a helicopter.

On Friday morning people will again gather to search the area.

Donald Mariacher is five feet tall and around 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing beige shorts and a blue shirt. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police.
