Search resumes for evidence on missing Ohio girl

Updated:

CLEVELAND (AP) - Authorities digging in Cleveland for evidence in the 2003 disappearance of a 16-year-old girl are resuming their search for a second day.

They're working on a tip from an inmate imprisoned for a 2007 murder.

Amanda Berry hasn't been heard from since April 21, 2003, when she called her sister to say she was getting a ride home from her job at a Burger King. The restaurant was about a 10-minute walk from her home and several miles from the search location.

Cleveland police and FBI crews working under tents Thursday dug in a grassy area within sight of Interstate 90. Police then guarded the lot overnight.

A prosecutor tells The Plain Dealer the inmate who offered the tip indicated someone else was involved in the teen's disappearance.
