YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Shortly after the NCAA announced sanctions against Penn State University in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, Valley sports fans had these reactions.
"It's going to devastate the program, it'll be 10 years, probably, before the name Penn State Nittany Lions are anything what they were before. This will be remembered for ever," said Ron Zapcic, a Penn State graduate.
"Especially with the players they might lose, with them being able to transfer and play immediately. I think it's going to be hard for them to maintain the program for quite a while,: said Steve Trbovich.
"I think the programs probably going to be destroyed for about 10 years. They really got hammered hard," said Ariggle Moore of Austintown.
"I think the unfortunate thing about it is really who gets punished the most is the players, the students and the fans. If they have to take these punishments for their team, for what somebody else did that they're not involved in. I think that's the unfortunate thing that they're punishing the masses for what one person really did," said Rick Heuber of Austintown.
