Cortland man is a suspect in copper wire theft

WARREN, Ohio - A Cortland man taken into custody is suspected of stealing copper wire.

The Trumbull County Sheriff's office tells 21 News that 34-year-old James Whittaker was allegedly spotted cutting telephone cable near Parkman Road and Tod Avenue NW around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Whittaker is accused of stealing about 130 feet of copper wire which has left more than a thousand Century Link customers without service.

It may take until Friday to restore service to all customers.
