LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, a possible running mate for prospective Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, says the pundits have it wrong: Pennsylvania is in play for the GOP standard-bearer.

The (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era (http://bit.ly/QMCZcn) says Portman told supporters in central Pennsylvania on Monday that he believed the commonwealth "is going to be in the red column this year."

Portman, R-Ohio, spoke to about 200 Republican officials and voters at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center.

1 of the people in the audience was 60-year-old Ed Agnew, who said he's a solid Romney vote no matter who is selected as the running-mate.
