Poland School Board hires interim superintendent

POLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Poland School Board has named an interim superintendent for the upcoming school year.

During a special meeting Monday evening, the board hired Don Dailey, a former Boardman Schools superintendent, while they search for a permanent replacement.

Dailey said the Mahoning County Schools superintendent called him less than two weeks ago about the position because Superintendent Robert Zorn is retiring a little bit earlier than expected.

"I come into the district with about 40 years experience in education. I've served as the superintendent in Boardman. I was in Boardman for 37 years, served as an interim in Struthers, served as a 5/6 (grades) principal in Canfield just this past half of a school year," Dailey said.

Dailey said his main goal is help get the school system's 5.9 mill emergency operating levy passed in November.
