WARREN, Ohio - Nearly 12-hundred steelworkers from Warren's RG Steel are still in limbo, waiting for final word from a bankruptcy court on the sale of their plant.
At a union hall meeting Thursday, many members left the meeting with more questions than answers.
Anxiously waiting to hear some word on what their future may hold, hundreds of Steelworker Local 1375 members stood outside their union hall unable to get inside due to overcrowding.
"We're trying to find out what's going on, if we have a job or not," said Patty Helinck.
At the special meeting, union members hoped to learn more about the sale of RG Steel to pending owner CJ Betters Enterprises and the effect it could have on their benefits, even employment.
"Our way of life could be terminated today. Everybody is hanging in the balance and everybody is concerned," said Bob Bohach.
As members began to file out of the meeting, many were discouraged.
"Getting a slap in the face," said Rex Polivka. "They couldn't care less about us."
The meeting, which was expected to last 45 minutes, continued throughout the afternoon.
"All I need to know is if I can get a pension, but that wasn't answered," said Janet Rossi.
21 News spoke with Union President Darlye Parker who said many details are still unclear, but members need to be prepared to move forward.
"Life as it has been over the last years will not be the same," Parker said.
The sale of RG Steel to CJ Betters is currently resting on an agreement with AccelorMittal. The company has filed an objection to the sale claiming ownership of some items within the RG Steel Plant.
A judge gave the sides until Thursday to reach an agreement. Until then, workers may just have to wait.
