WARREN, Ohio - New information on the future of the 12 hundred steelworkers laid off at Warren's RG Steel plant.

The trustee overseeing RG Steel's bankruptcy is asking a judge to terminate the current contracts with the steelworker's unions.

RG and the steelworkers union want the judge to approve a new agreement that would end the collective bargaining agreements at the end of the month.

The agreement would also end supplemental employment benefits, halt all contributions to the steelworker's pension plans and terminate all active and retiree benefit programs.

RG would support any claims for Trade Adjustment Assistance made by employees.

The motion asks the judge to hold a hearing Thursday morning on the proposed agreement.

Meetings are scheduled next week in Warren to explain health care options for workers.
