Local farmers say the drought has not hurt them as bad as others

Updated:

CANFIELD, Ohio - Some farmers at the Canfield Fair are grateful that the drought didn't hurt them as much as farms in other parts of the country.

Wade Campbell tells 21 News that the rainfall that came later helped salvage the corn and soybean crops essential for feeding cattle and livestock.

However, he adds the severe drought across the nation could mean an increase in beef prices. He says the price of feed corn and soybeans is very high.

"Beef eat a lot of corn and soybean meal, so that's driving up the prices on the inputs. Therefore, the price of beef could go a little higher," Campbell said.

Campbell tells us prices at the 4-H livestock auctions this week at the Canfield Fair brought in good prices.
