Mother questions schools actions when her child ends up missing

Updated:

WARREN, Ohio - Parents are speaking out after they say their six year-old daughter wandered away from her school, walking nearly three blocks, before anyone contacted police.

Kristan Young says she got a call Friday morning from Steam Academy in Warren saying her daughter was missing.

When she arrived at the school she learned the school had not contacted police. That's when she called 911.

"That scares the living crap out of me. Aside from the vehicles, you know how many sick, demented people there are and you're talking about a little kid. The school cared not even enough to contact the police department," Young said.

The girl was found by the school's principal. He tells 21 News he was on his way to the police station when he saw her walking along High Street.

He explained the school took every effort to find the girl, exhausting their resources before choosing to contact police.
