Browns not down despite another loss

Updated:

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Browns coach Pat Shurmur isn't down despite his team's 0-4 start and he's seeing positive progress by his young roster.

Cleveland remains the AFC's only winless team following a 23-16 loss at Baltimore on Thursday night. Given little chance, the Browns stayed close to the Ravens and had a shot to tie the game late, but rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden threw an incomplete pass out of the end zone on the game's final play. Still, Shurmur came away encouraged by how hard his team played and is confident "the results will come."

Cornerback Dimitri Patterson said Friday that the Browns, who have competitive in each loss, are "not going to lay down or be anyone's pushover." Patterson said there are no excuses and "we just got to get better and make plays when it counts."
