AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Saturday was Drug Take Back Day at police departments around the Valley.
In Austintown alone 75 people turned in almost 50 pounds of expired prescription and over-the-counter drugs which will all be incinerated.
Authorities say the drugs must be disposed of properly to avoid contaminating drinking water or ending up in the wrong hands and leading to deaths by overdose.
Several other local departments took part in this Drug Enforcement Administration event.
Austintown police remind everyone they have a drop box at the station which is available year around 24 hours a day.
