Winning the Buckeye State costly for presidential campaigns

Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - When it comes to presidential politics, Ohio has become the king of swing.

The fight to win the Buckeye State has been expensive one. With one month left before the election, the two presidential campaigns, and outside supporters, have already have spent more than $110 million dollars on television advertising in Ohio. That's about a sixth of all national spending.

President Obama has been to Ohio this year more times than any other state with the exception of Virginia. Mitt Romney has been to the Buckeye State even more when you count the time he spent campaigning in the Republican primary.

The running mates of both candidates have also made frequent visits.

No Republican has won the White House without carrying Ohio and the last president elected without winning Ohio was Democrat John Kennedy in 1960.
