Austintown voters will see three fire levies on the ballot

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – When Austintown voters go to the polls on Election Day there will be three levies for the fire department on the ballot.

The fire department says with state cuts there has been a shortfall of more than $1.1 million dollars since 2008. Yet fire and rescue calls have not decreased.

The President of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3356 tells 21 News the three levies on the ballot are replacement levies. He says they are needed to keep providing the same level of service to residents and businesses.

If all three levies are approved, residents with a home appraised at $100,000 will see an average increase of about $4.67 a month, or about $56 dollars per year.
