COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - In the hotly contested, super-expensive race for Ohio's Senate seat, job experience has surfaced as a defining issue.

Incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown says Republican challenger Josh Mande has ignored his job as state treasurer. The 35-year-old Mandel says Brown has been on his job too long and Washington needs new blood.

Brown's surprise Senate victory over GOP incumbent Mike DeWine six years ago in the closely-divided state makes his seat a prime national target for Republicans.

Brown, who's 59, is well-known to Ohio voters. He began his political career in 1974 as a state representative, and went on to serve as secretary of state and congressman.

Mandel touts his record as a former state representative and two-tour Marine veteran. He says he supports term limits and other changes in Washington.
