National financial cable news network focuses on downtown Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – This week, some Valley businesses will be in the spotlight on a cable news network.

The financial news, CNBC, was in the Valley on Tuesday looking at economic growth in Ohio.

As V2 in downtown Youngstown celebrated one year in business, CNBC's Phil LeBeau and a crew were focusing their lens on the renaissance of downtown Youngstown and northeast Ohio.

V2 owners Vernon Cesta and Ed Moses said that many people questioned their decision about opening a restaurant in downtown Youngstown, but that has changed as they work to grow the business in downtown.

"It's a great place for business I think. I think we need to have more businesses. This could be like a mini Cleveland or Pittsburgh. That's what we're dreaming of," said Vernon Cesta.

"They (CNBC) heard about what's going on in downtown Youngstown. They heard the traffic flow has been good, people buying buildings down here. They're developing everything," said Ed Moses

Dominic Gatta, the owner of the Federal Building in downtown Youngstown, believes there are more opportunities downtown. He has purchased the building that used to house Cedars Cafe and pans to re-open it by spring. "Two or three weeks ago we purchased the Gallagher Building and we're planning another restaurant and apartment space up above," Gatta said.

CNBC's reports will feature an interview with Mayor Chuck Sammarone on the issue of selling mineral rights, they will also feature a manufacturing plant important to the oil and gas industry, and they will talk about how other businesses are benefiting from the growth in the region.

"We're doing a series of reports called invest in America. At CNBC we're focused on how the economy is doing and there's no better place to take a look at what the economy is doing than here in Ohio, especially northeast Ohio," said CNBC's Phil LeBeau.

LeBeau's reports will air this coming Thursday on CNBC, the Today Show and on NBC Nightly News.
