Ryan speaks briefly in W. Pa., then heads to Ohio

Updated:

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, made a brief campaign visit to the Pittsburgh area on Saturday.

Ryan spoke to an enthusiastic crowd of about 500 people at a hanger near the Pittsburgh International Airport, and then headed to Ohio.

Ryan says that Romney can win Pennsylvania, and a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday found Romney now trails Democratic President Barack Obama by just 4%age points among likely Pennsylvania voters.

But there have been no signs of a new Romney advertising push in Pennsylvania, leading local Democrats to claim that Ryan's stop was more a matter of convenience than a major change in strategy. Ohio is only about 20 miles away from the Pittsburgh airport.
