Mahoning County Commissioners declare November Mahoning Valley Epilepsy Awareness Month

Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - November 1st marks the start of Epilepsy Awareness Month and Thursday morning Mahoning County Commissioners made a resolution declaring November in Mahoning County Mahoning Valley Epilepsy Awareness Month.

Mahoning Valley Epilepsy is a group dedicated to assisting in the prevention, detection and control of epilepsy.

"A person sitting next to you may not have ever had a seizure and as they are sitting next to you they may have their first seizure. So people need to be aware and know what they need to do and how to help and so there is no place I won't go to help educate people so that the lives of those effected with seizure disorders in our area can be living a more fulfilled life," said Mahoning Valley Epilepsy Executive Director Marty Smith.

The non-profit organization helps families dealing with epilepsy with transportation, medication, at jobsites and in schools. To learn more about the organization, log on to Mahoning Valley Epilepsy's website.
