PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers secondary is finding there is life without injured star safety Troy Polamalu.

The Steelers are first in the NFL in passing yards allowed, giving up just 174 per game. They held Eli Manning to a miserable 125 passing yards in a 24-20 victory over the New York Giants last week as Pittsburgh (5-3) won its third straight game.

Polamalu has played in just two games this season due to a right calf injury and will sit out yet again next Monday against the struggling Kansas City Chiefs (1-7). Veteran Will Allen has been the primary fill-in over the last month, and his presence in the run game has helped Pittsburgh put opponents in lengthy third-down situations.

Allen says he's just doing his job and he's just keeping Polamalu's seat warm until the perennial Pro Bowl standout returns.
