GUSTAVUS TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Shale Boom, became more than just a phrase to some people in Trumbull County on Friday.

Residents living east of Mosquito Lake reported hearing the sounds of explosions in the Cortland and Gustavus Township area.

The Trumbull County Sheriff's Department tells 21 News the blasts came from a company performing seismic tests.

Such tests are commonly used to find gas and oil deposits underground.
