5 US Olympic boxers victorious in their pro debuts

INDIO, Calif. (AP) - Three-time Olympic boxer Rau'shee Warren and four teammates from the U.S. men's team in London all won their professional debuts Friday night.

Dominic Breazeale, Marcus Browne, Errol Spence Jr. and Terrell Gausha also triumphed at the Fantasy Springs casino outside Palm Springs.

Warren won a unanimous decision over Luis Rivera despite losing a point for a debatable knockdown in the fourth round. Warren is the only three-time Olympian in U.S. boxing history, although he lost all three of his Olympic bouts.

Breazeale stopped Curtis Tate at 1:06 of the first round in his heavyweight debut, while Gausha stopped Dustin Caplinger at 1:55 of the third round.

Browne stopped Codale Ford at 1:04 of the third round, and Spence stopped Jonathan Garcia late in the third round.

Gary Russell Jr. (21-0, 13 KOs) finished the show by stopping Roberto Castaneda midway through the third round. Russell is a promising prospect who was on the 2008 U.S. team in Beijing.
