STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - The bill to pay for legal fees, consultants and other costs related to the fallout from the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal has topped $20 million for Penn State.

A school website this week showed the price tag was more than $20.9 million as of the end of August. About $11.7 million paid for the school's internal investigation and crisis communications.

Sandusky's arrest on Nov. 5, 2011 sparked the sweeping scandal. The fallout included strict NCAA sanctions on the football program in July.

The inability to buy Penn State merchandise on an NCAA-affiliated shopping website caused a stir among some fans on social media Tuesday. A spokesman for the firm running the site said a technical glitch was to blame and team merchandise was available for purchase later Tuesday.
