Driver in fatal New Middletown crash pleads guilty

Updated:

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - A Youngstown woman who hit and killed a New Middletown man last summer has pleaded guilty.

Twenty-two-year-old Michelle Green was in court Wednesday morning.

Attorneys agreed to drop her felony charge of aggravated vehicular homicide to a lesser charge of attempted aggravated vehicular homicide.

Green was charged after running a stop sign at the corner of Middletown and Unity Roads causing 32-year-old Mathew Clinkscale to be thrown from his vehicle.

"This was a case that wasn't based on alcohol. A lot of aggravated vehicular homicides are based on the fact that someone was dui or under the influence of drugs. This wasn't the case. This was a lower level based on recklessness," said Dawn Cantalamessa, Mahoning County Assistant Prosecutor.

Green could face up to 18 months in prison, probation and license suspension.
