Mascoat Industrial-DTI can successfully protect personnel per ASTM 1055 and 1057 from burns on surfaces up to 400°F.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 14, 2012

Mascoat has conducted detailed product research which shows that Mascoat Industrial-DTI can successfully protect personnel per ASTM 1055 and 1057 from burns on surfaces up to 400°F (204°C). The report was first presented at NACE,the world’s largest organization dedicated to the study of corrosion, which promotes research of new technology through trade standards and publications.

George More, President of Mascoat, and Howard Mitschke, a leading independent coatings expert, thoroughly reviewed the ASTM and OSHA regulations concerning personnel protection. Using their in-depth knowledge of heat flux, the rate of heat transfer through a surface, More and Mitschke tested Mascoat’s insulation coating,Industrial-DTI (DTI), to learn how well the product performed in protecting personnel against burns.

The study created worst-case testing scenarios using DTI at varying thicknesses on carbon steel substrates at different temperatures. The results clearly identified that even at a minimal thickness of 80 mils (2 mm), the coating was well within the ASTM criteria for 5-second skin exposure, even up to 400°F (204°C).

"This is a trendsetting study for our industry and Mascoat is proud to be leading the charge with scientific research proving DTI's personnel protection capabilities. Protecting employees is of the utmost importance in any workplace environment. Mascoat coatings exceed personnel protection guidelines and provide a superior level of safeguarding against personnel injuries in the workplace,” stated More.
