WARREN, Ohio - A Utica Shale forum was held in Warren to educate local leaders and the public.

Experts provided information on regulations and general practices, in terms of how the oil and gas companies explore, drill and produce natural gas and crude oil.

They also provided a timeline of when drilling is expected to ramp up in Trumbull and Mahoning counties.

"The drilling phase is what you're going to start seeing picking up primarily in the spring. Obviously there's been a lot of landowner's property that's been leased. We've had a chance to evaluate the geological potential underneath that property. The Utica Shale is definitely present and looks very promising," said Rhonda Reda, Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Education Program.

Eastern Gateway Community College representatives said about 70-percent of their graduates in the shale programs have found work.
