PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Gaming regulators say table games revenue was up 4% last month at Pennsylvania's 11 casinos despite the effects of Superstorm Sandy.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said Friday that casinos reported $55.3 million in gross revenue from table games in October. That's up 4.2% over the same period the year before.
Earlier this month, the state reported slots revenue was down 4.4% in October, partly due to the effect Sandy had on business late in the month. The storm caused massive power outages, especially in the Philadelphia area, which has four casinos.
Gaming board spokesman Richard McGarvey says table games revenue likely would have been higher without Sandy. Increases in prior months had mostly been in double digits, as tables are newer and growing faster than slots.
