Faith community meets to discuss fracking

Updated:

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Ministers, priests and members of the faith community from 16 counties came together to increase awareness about fracking and the process of drilling for oil and natural gas.

The gathering and informational meeting took place at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown.

The meeting focused on a moral and spiritual mission to protect water and God's creations.

"Our goal is to educate other faith communities about the problems of fracking and urge them not to sign leases on their church land for fracking and to also educate their congregants not to sign leases on their personal property,' said Ron Prosek, Convener of Faith Communities for Frack Awareness.

Reverend Monica Beasley-Martin asked God to bless water that was brought from Erie, Geauga, Portage, Mahoning and other regions across Ohio.
