YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown will be streamlining its parks with the possibility of closing some.

The declining population is to blame along with tightening in the park's budget.

The city plans to hire a consultant to carry out a master plan to reorganize the department's resources.

"For example, if we close a few parks we can address some money in putting maybe a splash pad somewhere or some other summer programming or even some winter programming throughout the city," said Robert Burke, Parks and Recreation Director.

The city is accepting bids from consultants to take on the project through December 14th.

The park's master plan will be presented at the Parks and Recreation Commissions special meeting later this month.
