WARREN, Ohio - Warren's mayor has teamed up with the Trumbull Correctional Institution to make the holidays a bit brighter for families struggling to get by.
The cooperative effort known as TCI Teaming Up with the City for the Community donated 35 food baskets with all the holiday fixings, including the turkey and a few extras, to 35 local families in need.
Warren Mayor Doug Franklin says, "It was well worth it for me just to see the smiles on the parents and the children's faces when they were picking up their food. It's a great program."
Each basket was based on the number of people in each family and includes enough food, so that families can enjoy the holiday, and the leftovers.
