NEW CASTLE, Pennsylvania - A seven-year-old boy is dead after being struck by a car in New Castle.

It happened just before 6:00 p.m. Sunday night at the intersection of Stanton and Winslow Avenues.
 
New Castle police say a vehicle driven by 66-year-old Virgil Coonfare left the roadway and struck two children playing near a residence.  

The seven-year-old suffered fatal injuries.  A nine-year-old was flown to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.  

Coonfare is charged with one count of homicide by motor vehicle.  

Additional charges are pending.
