Browns defense on dominating roll

Updated:

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Seven sacks one week. Eight turnovers the next. Cleveland's defense has been dominating lately.

With a young, deep line getting better each game, the Browns are developing a defensive identity. They forced five fumbles and three interceptions - the most turnovers in any NFL game since 2001 - in Sunday's 20-14 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns have already forced 25 turnovers this season after getting just 18 last year.

Browns offensive coordinator Brad Childress described Cleveland's defense as being "like fire ants."

They held the Steelers to just 49 rushing yards, the fewest allowed by Cleveland since 2003.

The Browns have been bolstered by the return of massive defensive tackle Phil Taylor, who missed the first eight games after sustaining an offseason injury while lifting weights.
